Review: Nars - Albatross

If you know me or follow me on any social media, you’ll know I love me some highlighter. Some may even argue that I wear too much of it! Hence, I’m always on the quest to finding the best highlighter.

I’m so glad, the UAE has NARS products available now in Sephora. The first thing I did, after NARS launched was purchase Albatross.

At first glance, Albatross looks like the most boring and bland product ever; just white powder. However, when applied, the highlighter is more gold.

I have also found, unlike many other highlighters, this one doesn’t emphasise pores and gives a beautiful glow - more like a cream product.

A little goes a long way, because it is very highly pigmented. I used any stippling brush to apply it, by pinching the brush so I have more control over it. I apply it on the high points of my cheeks, cupid bow, bridge of my nose and whatever is left, I apply that on the center of my forehead.

I have to say, people with lighter skin or with yellow undertones may find this a bit overwhelming and might not be the product for them.

Albatross, is here to stay in my makeup kit and I highly recommend anyone wanting a new highlighter, to give this one a try!

This retails for: $30

Autumn Fragrance: Giorgio Armani - Si

As the autumn season is here, it’s time to switch up perfumes that have a sense of warmth, darkness with a little spice and sweetness.

SI by Giorgio Armani is a new addition to my perfume collection. Si, is an feminine, elegant, refined smell that represents the modern woman. Apparently Giorgio Armani’s inspiration for this perfume were the fragrances worn by his mother.

Si is quite long lasting and slightly sweet and can be compared to Lancome’s La Vie est Belle - but not as sweet/fruity.

I would describe the scent as a mixture of vanilla, patchouli, fruity and woody explosion of elegance and femininity!

It’s notes are Chypre, Blackcurrant Nectar, Airy Florals and Musky Blond Wood.

Highly Recommend!

Si retails for:  $115 for 100 ml

Review: Too Faced - Better Than Sex/Love Mascara

My quest for finding the best mascara might have come to an end for quite a while. The minute I tried this mascara on, I knew that this was the one.

To describe the formula, the first word that comes to my mind is, silky. Silky, is a bit of an odd way to describe it, but it’s so smooth and effortless to apply that I feel it is the best way to describe my initial thought!

Review: Chanel - Soleil Tan De Chanel

This bronzer is amazing! It’s hard to describe exactly what the consistency is because it looks like a mousse but it is described as a cream product which is an illuminating makeup base. I find that the name of it is a little deceiving because many will think this acts as a makeup base that is to be applied all over the face. That in fact is incorrect, because Soleil Tan De Chanel is essentially a bronzer, if you were to apply this all over the face the results wouldn't be very flattering.

MAC Lipsticks

It’s no secret, MAC is by far my favourite brand for matte lipsticks. In my opinion, MAC have perfected the formula for matte lipsticks. Most other brands that produce matte lipsticks end up with a consistency that is too dry which ends up making lips look very wrinkly or it becomes a nightmare trying to apply that product because it is so dry that the lipstick doesn’t apply very easily, which then becomes a problem if you’re trying to blend the lipstick. However, this post isn’t about MAC matte lipsticks, it’s about MAC lipsticks that I have recently gotten, so let’s begin!

*REVIEW: Oriflame Giordani Gold Iconic Lipstick!

A few weeks ago I was sent the Giordani Gold Iconic Lipstick by Oriflame Cosmetics in the color Red Fatale. The first thing I did was try it on my lips; I did not waste a second to swatch it or take a photograph of it. Oops….

Sponsored Video: A Leap of Faith

A Leap of Faith

A Leap of Faith is trying to raise awareness about polio and its vaccination in Pakistan. Polio is a crippling disease that affects young children and aduls but it is entirely preventable.

A viral infection is what Polio is, it can cause paralysis, breathing problems and in worst cases even death

Paralytic Polio can be classified into three categories:

Spinal Polio: Causes paralysis in arms and legs, and breathing problems due to motor neurons being attacked in the spinal cord.

Bulbar Polio: Neurons responsible for vision, taste, swallowing and breathing are affected.

Bulbospinal Polio: Affects both spinal and bulbar.

Once a person becomes infected there is no cure, which is why it is essential to prevent this virus from infecting anymore people.

Polio vaccinations and boosters are very important in anyone who has not been vaccinated.

Please watch this video and support this cause, since Pakistan is one of only three countries in the world that still has not eradicated this disease. The other two countries being Afghanistan and Nigeria.

An Afternoon with the Family | Makeup Tutorial

The other day I wanted to film a new makeup tutorial and pay homage to my motherland in honor of its independence day! To put my own spin on the look, I chose to subtlety incorporate green into the look, trying to keep it as wearable as possible! (Products used will be listed below)

Once, I was done filming, I took a long stroll in the garden of my house where I bumped into the rest of the family- hence a photo shoot ensued.

Smokey Eye - Affordable Products Step by Step Tutorial

I recorded a new YouTube video, focusing mainly on affordable, drugstore products. The only two products that were not drugstore were the Makeup Forever HD foundation and the Givenchy Magic Khol Pencil. The reason for that is because I did not have any alternative to those products in my vicinity, since it was a spur of the moment video!

*Review: Oriflame - Sun Zone SPF 50

Hello Everyone!

Oriflame is a Swedish cosmetics brand, founded in 1967. I personally, had never tried any of the products by this company although I had heard of it. So when I had the Sun Zone UV protector sent to me over a month ago, I was excited to try it out!

I, deliberately took this long to write this review as I wanted to test out the product on me for a couple of weeks to form an opinion on it. What is the verdict? You may be wondering. I'll get to that, but first let me explain to you what this white and orange tube claims it does.

It is made for faces and other exposed areas that are susceptible to UV damage, and we all know how much the sun can age skin!

This particular sunblock that I have has an SPF of 50. The tube is 50 ml or 1.6 fl.oz.

Ideally this should be worn prior to sun exposure and frequently reapplying it.

Now to the review of the product:

Lush: Sea Vegetable Soap

Usually I am a HUGE fan of Lush products! Their masks, shampoos and lip scrubs are my favorite products from that store. However, my recent purchase, the Sea Vegetable soap was quite underwhelming. After giving it a couple of chances, it lays in my soap holder untouched.
The seaweed coated, blue green tinted soap leaves a lot to be desired. First and foremost, while washing my hands, I expect the soap that I use to have a nice lather but this soap doesn't even give me one bubble! Seriously, it just not lather up. I've tried holding it under water, rubbing my hands vigorously holding the soap but to no avail. The smell of it is nice, refreshing but this alone isn't enough for me to ever want to repurchase it again.

For me, when a soap doesn't lather, I don't feel like the soap achieved what it is meant to do- which is essentially cleaning my hands. Hence with this soap it was for me a total waste of money.
I did not feel clean, nor do I think there's any point in me buying this soap.

All in all, a complete disappointed customer - me. Disappointed in the product, not the store. The store is amazing. The colourful products, the friendly staff and the scent that lingers around just invites people in! The fact that their products are natural and cruelty free is a plus!

What do I smell like?

I still remember my first perfume my mum bought me. It was the Davidoff Cool Water. I vividly remember it was a pack of perfume, shower gel, bath salts and lotion with a blue bag, which I still have. The bag, not the products- that would be crazy if I still had those! This was when I was around 11-12 years old.

Gold Shimmery Eyes Tutorial

I started my YouTube channel a little more than a month ago. So far I've uploaded three videos, all of makeup tutorials and I plan on uploading a lot more on a weekly basis. The reason I have been slacking is because my laptop is dying on me. I've put my laptop through hell and now it's giving up on me!! LOL. I should have a new laptop soon- then I promise I will be more regular!

Meanwhile, here is my last video I did. Gold shimmery eyes perfect for an evening! I tend to wear a full face of makeup on a daily basis so to me this isn't too much. However, I also understand a lot of people do not wear as much make up.

This tutorial, I believe is easy to follow and emulate, and all the products can be substituted to what you have in your makeup bag!

Please do let me know what you think of the look and what you would like me to do in the future!

Snippets of My Life in Pakistan!

There is nothing in this world I love more than coming back to Pakistan, coming home to my house and family! I travel every few months between UAE and Pakistan and I consider both of these countries my home- but Pakistan holds a special place in my heart, as it is my identity, where I was born and raised and it is the place where most of my loved ones reside.

A couple of weeks ago, I came back to Pakistan and I thought I'd share what my life is like there. So, ENJOY!

The first day when I got back home, I was greeted by 3 new members of the family!

Hair and Shower Products I'm Loving!

The first thing that attracts me to a product is the packaging, then the scent. Based on those two things, I will probably purchase a product. Other times, I will probably purchase a product based on what it's intended to do- how well they work, is another blog post!

But today, I'm going to share with you guys the products I have been loving!

Taking Care of Your Skin

Majority of women and a number of men have a desire to look younger and will go to any lengths to prevent aging. Some, turn to cosmetic procedures others to invasive surgery to turn the clock around but let's be real though, aging is a part of life and no surgery will make you look how you did in your 20's. Instead of worrying about ageing, importance should be given to how radiant, healthy and glowing your skin looks overtime and maintaining that healthy look over the years.

1. Knowing your skin type is essential. There are five skin types:

A Little Naked

My cousin came to visit me while I was in Islamabad. We get to see each other twice a year for a few days, so when we get together - gossip, laughs, makeup, makeup and more makeup mayhem ensues. I dolled her up for a night we were going out and she looked fabulous.
